FEW WORDS FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE ORGANISING COMMITEE

It gives me a great pleasure to greet all the participants at the 16th Conference of Pharmacists of Dalmatia which is held under the title "What does the European pharmaceutics aspire after?" - the main subject being rendering additional pharmaceutical services , which also was subject of previous FIP conference.

The changes in the health insurance system require from the pharmacists to take over a new role appropriate to the present time and to the development of the society. The traditional type of pharmacy is slowly vanishing and its future is in the new type of pharmacy ready to give other pharmaceutical services. The pharmacy becomes the centre of efficient and safe pharmacotherapy, a place where pharmaceutical care is carried out. Proficiency, high level of knowledge and top quality services are required from pharmacist. For years now, in many countries the pharmacists render additional pharmaceutical services thus
improving the health care as a whole. The governments of some countries have recognised the merits of such services and have accepted the pay for them. Will our pharmacies embrace rendering additional services in greater numbers and what relationship between our government and the ministry will be is yet to be seen in the future.

At our conference we shall demonstrate the organization of the pharmaceutics as well as the expiriences that Austria, Switzerland and Slovenia have in rendering additional services. We shall also get acquainted with experiences with additional services and with the present events in our pharmaceutics.

We have organised this conference under the sponsorship of Minstry of Health and Pliva d.d. and with help from our drug wholesale merchants, and domestic and foreign pharmaceutical companies. The great help in choosing the subjects and lecturers was given to us by doc.dr.Maja Jaksevac-Miksa.

On this occasion I would like to thank everyone for their participation on behalf of the organising comette and the pharmacists of Dalmatia. We thank all lecturers and especially our guests from Austria, Switzerland and Slovenia who answered to the invitation from our Society to present interesting subjects
to our pharmacists.
